New Interactive 4-D Gaming Adventure Ride Submerges Riders Under the Boardwalk.

Knott’s Berry Farm will pull back the curtain on Voyage to the Iron Reef giving all a sneak peak to the newest 4-D interactive ride on the west coast. (Opens to the public May 15)
Ever since construction crews finished expanding the Boardwalk pier in 2013, Knott’s Berry Farm has discovered a problem brewing beneath the boardwalk. The construction has wakened a mystic lair in the depths below. Now out for steel; the Kraken Queen and her mechanical aquatic army have surfaced and are feeding on Knott’s beloved attractions. Knott’s is calling on all brave fans to save the park!
The mission, Voyage to the Iron Reef, begins in a four-person submarine-inspired vehicle that will embark on the four-minute gaming adventure through 600 feet of track and 11 interactive scenes. Equipped with an interactive freeze ray, riders will aim to freeze hundreds mechanical minions such as a ballooning pufferfish, an iron clad octopus and other exciting 3-D creatures while battling shocking 4-D effects.
It’s up to riders to blast the most sea life and end the Kraken Queen’s reign to save Knott’s from a watery doom. Voyage to the Iron Reef’s 4-D experience integrates high-definition 3-D animation with creative place making props and scenery.
The media based ride enables the actions of our guests to have a direct impact on the outcome of the experience, and ensures that no two voyages are ever the same. In addition to battling the Kraken Queen and her hundreds-strong aquatic army, guests compete head-to-head with the fellow sailors inside their submarine to see who can blast the most creatures.
