*May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month*
Novel, Non-Invasive Transdermal Patch May Be the Key to Saving Millions of Lives
According to the CDC, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Each year, more than 6 million people are treated for basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas at costs of more than $8 Billion. These cancers, if detected and treated early, are generally considered survivable. The key is early detection and treatment. Traditionally, those treatments involve painful surgeries to remove potentially deadly skin cells, but new advancements may change all that.
In this interview, Dr. Raza Bokhari will discuss the latest advancements in skin cancer treatment technology. That includes a treatment currently in Phase 2 trials in nine sites across the US. The novel device comes in the form of a tiny, transdermal patch that’s small enough to fit on the tip of your finger. Instead of more traditional, painful and invasive surgeries, the patch delivers a cost effective, efficacious, easy-to-administer treatment.
