Eclipse flight to Munich, Germany

Lufthansa passengers were in the center of a rare cosmic event during the August 21st LH521 flight from Mexico City to Munich. While on its way to the German metropolis, the Airbus A340 flew over the East Coast, literally through the shadow of The Great American Eclipse. The eclipse lasted for several hours and the passengers saw the sun covered by up to 95%. Flight Captain Marko-Cyrus Müller and his crew navigated the plane at 30,000 feet near Greenwood, South Carolina, almost into the total eclipse. The Lufthansa crew provided passengers with special sun protection glasses to fully and safely enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
